Hopes for the World - Lower Elementary

In Fall 2020, our Lower Elementary class worked with the writing prompt question of "If I could change the world, I would...." This heartwarming project gives great hope for the future and this next generation of thoughtful, introspective, caring children we are raising.

If I could change the world, I would....

...help homeless people.

...want everybody to be kind and the world to be made of food.

...tell the people to not pollute in the ocean.

...make everything awesome by saying everything is awesome.

...make it clean.

...make people be kind to each other.

...make everything free.

...free the kids out of prison and make school free.

...make it all candy and no guns.

...make the homeless people have homes.

...make it so everyone can be heard and so that no idea was a bad idea.

...have humans live without pollution.

...include people.

...like people to be kind to one another.

...pick up garbage.

We have High Hopes at Cedar Tree

Our Cedar Tree community put together a special video - High Hopes - during our time in quarantine and distance learning. It is a celebration of the experience, our time at home and being separate together. These videos and pictures illustrate the landscape of our days.

Michael R., a Cedar Tree alumni, skillfully weaved our families' contributions together to create a parody of High Hopes by Panic! at the Disco. We are grateful for Michael's artistic direction along with the awesome efforts of our Upper Elementary students and our Upper Elementary teachers for taking time to initiate, coordinate and facilitate this creative process!

In celebration of the strength of our community and the robust and simple joys that mark our days.

Annual Children’s Art Walk

We moved this 2020 expression of creativity and color online!

Lower Elementary

Our Lower Elementary (grades 1-3) students created beautiful “stained glass” windows. Each of these projects were done with our art teacher, Cedar Tree parent, local artist and children’s book author, Kjersten Hayes.

Children’s House

Our Children’s House (ages 3-6 years old) worked collaboratively with Kjersten Hayes, a Cedar Tree parent, local artist and children’s book author, to create colorful expressions. The art project focused on expressing our feelings through art. The kids were encouraged to draw a picture about what they love about Cedar Tree and how it makes them feel.

We want to thank Make.shift, Allied Arts and Dakota Arts Store, our partners and collaborators in the annual art walk, for their generous support of Cedar Tree Montessori and their continuous desire to keep art alive in our community.
