Eric Braun Tuition Scholarship

This Scholarship was created in 2014 and was made possible from contributions from friends and family of Eric Braun. Eric was the devoted father to Malleck and Zakara & loving husband to Nichole, a Cedar Tree Montessori family.  He unexpectedly passed away in May of 2014, and his family started a scholarship in his name.  Eric was adored far and wide for his warmth, strength, generosity, infectious sense of fun, and ability to make people feel good about themselves.  Eric's spirit of caring reached many people, and that legacy will continue in the hearts of all who knew him.

We embrace, value, and celebrate our differences and encourage diversity in our student, staff, board, and parent community.   We are committed to increasing our racial and economic diversity at Cedar Tree and work to dismantle systemic racism. We work to include families from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Because finances are a barrier to enrollment, we use our after-school care program as a source of revenue for this scholarship. We will teach peace and acknowledge that racism exists. We will learn from each other and talk with our children about our role and responsibility to end racism. This scholarship allows us to reduce financial obstacles and increase enrollment to families of diverse economic backgrounds.

This tuition scholarship is administered by our board of directors and is available to new and returning families to apply for tuition assistance. We have worked to create two sources of income to ensure that this support is sustainable. Cedar Tree’s after school program offers support for working parents and extends the day for our students and the revenue generated goes to our Braun Scholarship program. Cedar Tree requires parent volunteer hours to foster a culture of community and service. Some services that Cedar Tree depends on and used to pay for will be added to a list for parents to help with. The money that Cedar Tree would spend to complete that task will be contributed to the Braun tuition scholarship fund.
